Salomé (1922) by Alla Nazimova, adapted from the Oscar Wilde play.
Thursday, April 24 th .
A screening of the LGBTQ Silent cult film, Salomé (1922) produced, written, directed and starring, Alla Nazimova as Salomé, the Biblical seductress who performed the dance of the Seven Veils and demanded the head of John the Baptist.
The film features striking sets and a mostly LGBTQ cast in honor of the play’s author, Oscar Wilde.
UVA Film Lecturer, Matt Marshall will be performing a live piano and organ accompaniment based on the 1905 Richard Strauss opera adapted from Wilde’s play, along with other exotic and middle eastern melodies.

Step behind the curtain into The Black Lodge to celebrate the life of visionary artist David Lynch and the release of Protection Spells, the new album from Ships In The Night.
Surrender to the surreal and get lost in the darkness on a night of music, mystery and magic. Drift into a haze of haunting imagery, unsettling characters, and coffee and donuts.
Ships In The Night performs with a cast of strange and special guests. DJ Bobby Metronome spins Lynchian tracks to dance to all night.
