Harmonía II: A Benefit for Migrant Children & Families

We are excited to once again partner with IX Art Park in staging Harmonía: Our inaugural event last summer was a runaway success. Musicians and community members from Charlottesville and beyond came together on a beautiful Sunday in July to play music, foster community, eat, drink, and support three important charitable organizations countering the humanitarian crisis occurring along our nation's Southernmost door.

With the help of generous sponsors, artists, volunteers, and the good people of IX Art Park, we raised close to $4,500 to benefit national advocates The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights, as well as local organizations Creciendo Juntos - CJ and Sin Barreras Charlottesville, who help avail a myriad developmental, educational, and professional resources to Latinx individuals and families in our community. This year we will expand our beneficiary partnership to include CIRAC, a coalition of Charlottesville-area individuals and organizations formed to support and protect our immigrant neighbors, particularly those facing discrimination, detention, and deportation.

The humanitarian crisis has only deepened in the year since our first event, and the dark reports of family separations, abuses, neglect, and death have inspired us to redouble our efforts in staging a successful second benefit.

Moreover, we feel strongly that the binary goal of fostering fellowship and community with local Latinx communities continues to be the key to establishing a sense of understanding and impacting positive growth. Therefore, on July 7th at IX we have an impressive lineup of musical talent, folks who are eager to lend their time and tunes to what is shaping up to be an afternoon for the record books.
