The Official Festy After Party w/ Jackie Venson & Down North

Free for Festy attendees, $15 for admission without a Festy ticket

Jackie Venson is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Austin, TX. Venson attended Berklee College of Music where she practiced classical piano originally, but after not finding her passion there she switched to the guitar. She quickly began to understand and perfect the guitar, and that has become clear in her music. Venson fuses the two sounds of an electric guitar and blues guitar making her instrumentation sound like a mashup of Jimi Hendrix and Prince. Her voice has a dreamy, optimistic sound to it that places her music under the umbrella of easy-listening. The impressive guitar solos, the powerful vocals, and just the right amount of synth makes Venson a true new-age female rocker.

Down North is a Soul-Punk band based out of Seattle, WA. The band was formed in 2006, with the frontman Anthony “RenaGade” Briscoe joining in 2007. Briscoe claims to primarily draw influence from James Brown and Sam Cooke while also being comparable to Prince with his dynamic vocal expressions. Down North’s psychedelic-jazz guitarist Nick Quiller seems to have an unstoppable imagination when it comes to guitar riffs. Down North’s songs contain upbeat rhythms and intricately powerful instrumentation. The band has limitless energy and groove, making their live performances a must-see. Check out their newest single “Your World,” which was released July 19, 2019.
